Outlined below are the basics. PDF Formatted Text & Graphics – produced directly from word processing files or scanned paper documents. Once scanned or imported, the text will remain editable and bitmaps are kept for zones on the page that contain graphics. This type of PDF is recommended for applications where size is a factor such as web-based retrieval. The tradeoff with this option, however, is cost as any OCR errors must be manually corrected. PDF Image Only – this PDF is produced from scanned pages and no OCR is performed. The image is a replica of the original document, however, you cannot search for words or phrases that appear. Information fields such as subject & keyword, may be searched. If your conversion project does not require full text searches, this is the best option for converting your paper documents to PDF
